甚麼叫做「一真法界」? "One True Dharma Realm."
宣公上人: 各位善知識!今天我們來到一真法界,甚麼叫做「一真法界」?就是華嚴境界;只要你一真,就一切都真。故云:「一真一切真;一假一切假;一中一切中。」你合乎中道,則一切都合乎中道了。
所以「一」非常重要,「一」乃數目之開始,無量之本。所謂:「一本散為萬殊,萬殊還歸一本。」我們這麼多眾生從「一」而來,又還回「一」去,故「一」字為萬物的開始,又是萬物的歸宿。故云:「得一萬事畢。」
老子說:
「昔之得一者,天得一以清,地得一以寧,神得一以靈,谷得一以盈,萬物得一以生,侯王得一,以為天下貞,其致之一也。」
法界是重重無盡,化化無窮的。甚麼叫「法界」?即是盡虛空,遍宇宙,也是囊括萬有之一個代名詞,我曾在萬佛城寫過一首「法界頌」:
"法界為體有何外?虛空是用無不容。萬物平等離分別,一念未生絕言宗。"
法界為體有何外:沒有甚麼是在法界外邊的,甚麼都包括在裡面,不管你有多大本事,也逃不出法界之外,法界是包羅萬有,真空妙有,皆在法界裡盡包藏。
虛空是用無不容:以虛空為用,此大用無所不包,無所不容。你能明白虛空,就與道合了。法界即虛空,虛空即法界。
萬物平等離分別:金剛經云:是法平等,無有高下。因為我們將來都要成佛的,皆是未來之佛,因此不要分你我他,這樣才是平等。
一念未生絕言宗:在一念未生前,掃一切法,離一切相,這是第一義諦,若能用話說出來的,已落入第二義。
所以我們要返本還原,回歸到一真法界,這才是眾生的本有家鄉。你如果能回到一真法界,那麼離佛國也不遠了。但究竟說來說去,「一真法界」到底又是甚麼?一真法界也就是十法界──佛、菩薩、緣覺、聲聞、天、人、阿修羅、畜生、餓鬼、地獄。這十法界皆不離開你我他現前一念心,現前一念心,就是法界。所謂心真則事實,不論做任何事,必要有堅固心、誠心、恆心;若缺乏這堅、誠、恆三心,做任何事都不會有成就。修行更要有堅誠恆三心,永遠永遠都不退道心,而且要明心見性。你能明心見性,就是一真法界。「明心則無礙難事,見性豈有憂愁心。」能明心見性,就可返本還原,回到一真法界。
一真法界,顧名思義,即是不做虛假事,一切一切都要往真的去做,真中更真,實中更實,沒有一點虛偽,發心要發法界心,布施以法界為布施,掃一切相,除所有執著,而與法界合為一體。法界無所不包,無所不容,無論甚麼污穢物、清淨物、好人、壞人,各式各類的眾生皆在法界中包容著。法界不會因污淨好壞,而起種種分別心。所以我們若能真明白法界性,才是明心見性。
Dear Noble Friends! Today, we are entering the "One True Dharma Realm." What does the "One True Dharma Realm" mean? It refers to the Avatamsaka Sutra (Huayan) realm, the state of perfect unity. As long as you are in the "One True," everything is true. Hence, it is said: "One true, all is true; one false, all is false; one middle, all is middle." If you align with the Middle Way, then everything aligns with the Middle Way. Therefore, "One" is very important. "One" is the beginning of numbers, the source of the infinite. It is said: "From one, many differences arise; from many differences, they return to one." All sentient beings come from the "One" and return to the "One." Thus, the word "One" is both the beginning and the ultimate destination of all things. Therefore, it is said: "By attaining the One, all things are completed." Laozi said: "In ancient times, those who attained the One, heaven attained the One to be clear, the earth attained the One to be peaceful, the gods attained the One to be spiritual, the valleys attained the One to be full, all things attained the One to live, and the rulers attained the One to govern the world with righteousness. This is the result of the One."
The Dharma Realm is vast and endless, its transformations boundless. What is the "Dharma Realm"? It refers to the entirety of space, the entire universe. It is also a term that encompasses everything in existence. I once wrote a "Hymn of the Dharma Realm" at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas:
The Dharma Realm has no external, what could it be?
The void is its function, it accommodates all.
All things are equal, free from distinctions,
Before a single thought arises, all speech ceases.
The Dharma Realm has no external, what could it be?
There is nothing outside the Dharma Realm. Everything is included within it. No matter how powerful you are, you cannot escape the Dharma Realm. The Dharma Realm contains all, both emptiness and marvelous existence, all are hidden within it.
The void is its function, it accommodates all.
The void is used in such a way that it encompasses everything, nothing is excluded. If you understand the void, you align with the Dao. The Dharma Realm is the void, and the void is the Dharma Realm.
All things are equal, free from distinctions.
As the Diamond Sutra says, "This Dharma is equal, there is no higher or lower." We all aim to become Buddhas in the future; we are all future Buddhas, so we should not make distinctions between you, me, and others. This is the true equality.
Before a single thought arises, all speech ceases.
Before any thought arises, all dharmas are swept away, and all forms are transcended. This is the ultimate truth. If it can be expressed in words, it falls into a secondary truth.
Thus, we must return to the source, returning to the One True Dharma Realm, which is the true homeland of all sentient beings. If you can return to the One True Dharma Realm, then you are not far from the Buddha's land. But ultimately, what is the "One True Dharma Realm"? It is none other than the Ten Dharma Realms—Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Pratyekabuddhas, Sravakas, Heaven, Humans, Asuras, Animals, Hungry Ghosts, and Hell. These ten realms are all inseparable from the present moment of your mind. The present moment of your mind is the Dharma Realm. It is said: "When the mind is true, then the reality is true." No matter what you do, you must have a firm heart, a sincere heart, and a consistent heart. Without these three qualities—steadfastness, sincerity, and perseverance—nothing will succeed. In cultivation, you must have these three qualities of steadfastness, sincerity, and perseverance. Always, without retreating from the path, you must have the determination to attain Buddhahood, and you must awaken the mind of enlightenment.
If you can understand the mind and see the nature, you will enter the One True Dharma Realm. "Understanding the mind removes all obstacles, seeing the nature removes all sorrow." If you can understand the mind and see your nature, you will return to the source and return to the One True Dharma Realm.
The One True Dharma Realm, as the name suggests, is about not doing anything falsely. Everything must be done in truth, deeper truth within truth, genuine within genuine, with no falsehood. The heart should be dedicated to the Dharma Realm, and generosity should be done with the Dharma Realm in mind. Sweep away all forms and attachments, and merge with the Dharma Realm as one. The Dharma Realm includes everything, it accommodates everything, whether clean or impure, good or bad, all kinds of beings are contained within the Dharma Realm. The Dharma Realm does not discriminate between clean and unclean, good and bad.
Therefore, if we can truly understand the nature of the Dharma Realm, we will understand the mind and see the nature. (*English by Chatgpt)
